CIT--Day Five

Today was a most excellent day because Ashley was allowed to have her cast removed and go for a swim!

So after two hours of therapy, it was off with the cast...



and into the water!


Ash spent most of her time in the pool with Peggy.




The girls had a great time with their casts off. Time to move and scratch and play and then it was time to hit the showers. Thankfully I'd brought shampoo and conditioner. All the girls in the group needed it and so I stood, fully clothed, in the shower with all the girls and squirted shampoo and conditioner for everyone.

Ayup. I came out looking like I'd taken a shower with my clothes on. Which is kinda sorta what I'd done.

Then it was time to have the cast put back on and wrapped in the color of their choice. Ashley chose green.




The problem was that there wasn't enough green to finish the arm. She was offered another color to make it a two-color job but she didn't think that was going to look very good. So upstairs we went in search of another color.


This time she picked purple. Notice how thrilled she looks.



Her pain was relieved by having lunch with Peggy down in the cafeteria. She enjoyed a burger and their famously delicious onion rings.

All in all, it was an incredible week.

Now it's on to the weekend.

    i bet that felt awesome to have the cast off and be in the water!
    and she definitely looks cranky about putting it back on.

Wheeeeeeee!

Today I was awakened to the not-so-delightful sounds of enormous dump trucks, (you know the ones that are a dump truck and they haul a trailer behind?) dumping truck load after truck load of dirt behind my house. Then the most incredibly noisey and squeaky (do they not grease the tracks on those things??) grader began shoving the dirt and rocks around. I had to fight the urge to throw a can of WD40 over the fence to the driver. It wasn't even eight in the morning. It wasn't even 7:30 yet. So I reluctantly arose from my bed and cleaned up the kitchen. After it was spotless, I went back upstairs to my freeze-zone (the only room in the house with AC) to do some online banking and make calls to check on medical bills, etc. As I was finishing up, in walks my husband! At first I had a moment of Oh-no-he's-lost-his-job terror. Then it passed after he smiled. Seems they ran out of work for the day. Odd, but then that's Boeing. People are rude

I'm whining today. I think I have the right. My friend's mom sells Cookie Lee Jewelry and I agreed to host a party for her at my home tonight. I sent out about twenty invitations via the mail and I only had two people call me to say they couldn't come. Two. Two kind people called to let me know they would not be able to make it. The rest ignored the invitation. I cleaned my house, I made two apple crisps. This afternoon I called everyone I sent invitations to. I know people are busy. I get that. it's not that I'm not busy either. I'm just...disappointed in people. I feel let down. Silly of me, huh? But I do. Good thing I have apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for my family tonight. On a positive note, I went to the pool this morning and had a nice workout. Felt better for having done that and plan on going tomorrow as well. Now I'm getting the 'what's for dinner mooooom???' queries. I think tonight it will be fast food. I...
