We've gone to the animals...

Ahhhh. The pool was lovely this morning and my favorite teacher was there to work us into a sweat. I've missed her. My house is clean (((GASP!)), ok the downstairs is clean. The rest? Not so much. I will be getting to that shortly. In the meantime, here are some pictures for you to ponder.

Here is Bobo (aka Uncle Daddy) with his son/nephew, Twitchy. They used to pee on the couches whenever I put the slipcovers on. For some reason they've given it a pass this time. I don't know why, but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Or rather, a non-peeing cat in the .....uh....in the whatever.

On the other end of the couch from them are their nephews/cousins/half brothers. It's complicated.

On the other couch across from them in the family room, is our dog Cassie. Oooh, it's a dogs life, lemme tell ya.

You may wonder why there is no picture of our other cat, She Who Procreates. Well, I'm taking her into the vet at 2:40 this afternoon, barring unforseen episodes of fright. This is the first step in the process of making her She Who Cannot EVER Reproduce Again. Wish me luck. The last time we tried to do this my husband chipped his tooth.

  1. It's nice to have a place where you can come and read about cat pee.

  2. I say that one should always go with their strengths. Plus, it's good to find your own niche market.

    Apparently I've discovered mine.

  3. i thought inbreeding only happened in the south....

  4. Poor Bruiser. She's traumitzed.

We got the momma to the vet for her shots and exam. Friday morning I will take her in for her surgery.

  5. Way to go Pammy! I spay and neuter all my babies. The girl kitties don't seem to mind but every once in a while I get dirty looks from the boys. ;-).

  6. So what is it about slipcovers? Wrong color? Our kitties have all been spayed or neutered over the years, but we did have a couple that gave us some trouble.

But on the plus side it cured my husband of any nostalgia from the kitten days of his youth. He is now on board with the if we want a kitten we'll go get a kitten. Not get multiples from scratch...I think it was making him clean up the afterbirth from the last batch in the closet that did it...too much information?

  7. I have to laugh. Our cats have never peed on the furniture - well the part you sit on. It's always been around the edges, or on papers you don't want to throw away, or on boxes that company is going to see....
Then my daughter moved back home with her own trio (sigh) and they proceeded to pee and poop all over the basement. We've threatened to toss them outside as soon as the cold ends. ARGH. She has finally kept up with the litter box, but we are thinking it's the least we can do to help get the mom cat fixed...she's way too prolific.

Healing

As I've been reading Conference Talks, I was touched by one by Elder Neil L. Anderson. He spoke of healing. Not in a physical sense, although that is also within the purview of the Lord, but about spiritual healing. When we've done something wrong, and everyone has, we should rightly feel guilt. Sometimes we feel shame. Some say that these feelings are not valid, they are bad and unproductive, and I agree in part. Those feelings are horrible, but they are not unproductive if they lead you to real repentance and a change for the better in your life. We are counseled to come unto Christ, so that He may heal us. There is no sin that cannot be forgiven. There is no wrong that cannot, in the end and with proper steps taken, that cannot be wiped clean. I'm grateful for this promise--because the world needs peace and I need mercy. (That's another quote from one of the apostles). I'm so grateful for so many things--not the least of which is the opportunity to ...

Ahhhhhh

Ally and I just got back from the gym. I went every day last week and even though it's Spring break for the kids and me this week, I promised myself I wouldn't fall off the wagon. No, not that one. I've fallen off so many times I've got callouses and other assorted damages from hitting the ground. We'll see how this works out this time. One day at a time, right? I can't do more than I can do. Whoa, how profound is that? You're right. Not very. I'm fighting a cold right now---scratchy painful throat, ears that won't unplug and a heavy feeling in my chest that I fear does not bode well for the rest of the week. Not that we're taking a vacation. We'd love to of course, but what with times the way they are and the things we need to get done here, it simply wasn't an option. So what are we doing for our spectacular spring break? I'm glad you asked. We're cleaning! Yes, you heard right. And my kids (Ok, the younger ones at an...

Wheeeeeeee!

Today I was awakened to the not-so-delightful sounds of enormous dump trucks, (you know the ones that are a dump truck and they haul a trailer behind?) dumping truck load after truck load of dirt behind my house. Then the most incredibly noisey and squeaky (do they not grease the tracks on those things??) grader began shoving the dirt and rocks around. I had to fight the urge to throw a can of WD40 over the fence to the driver. It wasn't even eight in the morning. It wasn't even 7:30 yet. So I reluctantly arose from my bed and cleaned up the kitchen. After it was spotless, I went back upstairs to my freeze-zone (the only room in the house with AC) to do some online banking and make calls to check on medical bills, etc. As I was finishing up, in walks my husband! At first I had a moment of Oh-no-he's-lost-his-job terror. Then it passed after he smiled. Seems they ran out of work for the day. Odd, but then that's Boeing. So hubby was roped into going school cloth...
