Just another brick in the wall....or french fry to a seagull

My life...busy as it was....just got busier.

I now have my two youngest removed from public school. Alli is doing an online school and she's appearing to love it.

Ash is mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Did I mention she's all mine? She'd been pleading to be home schooled for some time now and when she discovered that if she was HOME SCHOOLED she wouldn't have to get up so early every morning, well that just did it for her. She's SO not a morning person. There have been bottles of water involved in prying her from her warm snuggy bed on occasion.

Honestly, getting her up in the morning is like trying to pry Obama off his money-printing machine. It simply can't be done without a whole lotta muscle involved and blood pressure high enough to cause a stroke. For me, not her.

So, now she gets to sleep in, which works out nicely as Daddy works late nights and now he doesn't have to be awakened early every morning.

And I get to home school her. It's as though the umbilical, which seemed to have been missed out on getting cut between us at birth, has become all the more tether-y. Is that a word? If not, it should be. Go ahead and use it in a sentence five times this week.

You're welcome.

Home schooling the girls actually makes my life a bit easier on one front--making appointments at Chidren's Hospital. We tend to spend a great deal of time there so now the girls don't have to miss any school over their various health issues. We saw Ashley's Neurologist last Monday where he checked her out and increased her seizure medications.

Today we saw Alli's orthopedist to check on the osteo defect (I think that's what he called it) in her knee that she'd injured. He pronounced her hale and well in that particular joint so no more brace and no more crutches. Yay! Ashley came with us to make sure she didn't miss out on her favorite cafeteria food as well as to entertain Alli while we waited for the ortho.
Before we saw the ortho, we spent some time in radiology where they did a doppler study of Alli's vascular system.

She's been having bruising on her legs that simply won't go away. It was confined to her shins and calves but now she's getting them on her thighs. We'll meet with the vascular doctors soon and hopefully have some answers to this mystery.

And so you don't think we spend ALL our time at the hospital, here's a little something we did last Saturday with the girls. The day was AMAZING and so we went down to the waterfront and the Aquarium.

The girls had a great time! We took along Izzy, a friend of Alli's and the laughter and the giggling was non-stop.

Steph found a starfish on the deck outside the Aquarium and set it free back into Puget Sound.

And now....here's a short video of some fun we had with french fries and seagulls at Ivars that afternoon. If you can't see this, (those of you viewing this on Facebook) then you'll have to go to my actual blog site here http://pamela-troeppl.blogspot.com/ to view it. Careful, the seagulls are LOUD.

Comments

  1. I need home-schooling. I have been a very naughty boy, however.

  2. That's huge. It sounds like the girls will thrive with this new situation.

Online Friends

I'm sure you've heard by now that blue is the new black, forty is the new thirty and they're lying through their teeth when they say that last thing. Also, imaginary childhood friends (you know you had one) have been replaced with online friends. They're the same in that no one ever really sees them, but you talk to them, you play with them, your other friends and family think you're just this side of a restraining jacket and you're a lot older than you were when you first had friends you never saw. Sure they're real you might say in that mocking tone you have . Well stop that. Save your mocking for later on when I tell you all about my Internet friends. No, I can't see them, or touch them, although some of them have asked me....um, well, we'll go into that later. People have become friends with other people across the world, sometimes they've become friends with people they'd never become friends with in RL. That means real life for ...

Wheeeeeeee!

Today I was awakened to the not-so-delightful sounds of enormous dump trucks, (you know the ones that are a dump truck and they haul a trailer behind?) dumping truck load after truck load of dirt behind my house. Then the most incredibly noisey and squeaky (do they not grease the tracks on those things??) grader began shoving the dirt and rocks around. I had to fight the urge to throw a can of WD40 over the fence to the driver. It wasn't even eight in the morning. It wasn't even 7:30 yet. So I reluctantly arose from my bed and cleaned up the kitchen. After it was spotless, I went back upstairs to my freeze-zone (the only room in the house with AC) to do some online banking and make calls to check on medical bills, etc. As I was finishing up, in walks my husband! At first I had a moment of Oh-no-he's-lost-his-job terror. Then it passed after he smiled. Seems they ran out of work for the day. Odd, but then that's Boeing. So hubby was roped into going school cloth...

People are rude

I'm whining today. I think I have the right. My friend's mom sells Cookie Lee Jewelry and I agreed to host a party for her at my home tonight. I sent out about twenty invitations via the mail and I only had two people call me to say they couldn't come. Two. Two kind people called to let me know they would not be able to make it. The rest ignored the invitation. I cleaned my house, I made two apple crisps. This afternoon I called everyone I sent invitations to. I know people are busy. I get that. it's not that I'm not busy either. I'm just...disappointed in people. I feel let down. Silly of me, huh? But I do. Good thing I have apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for my family tonight. On a positive note, I went to the pool this morning and had a nice workout. Felt better for having done that and plan on going tomorrow as well. Now I'm getting the 'what's for dinner mooooom???' queries. I think tonight it will be fast food. I...
