Cleaning

Since it's Saturday, I've been singing a song to the girls (the older two are up in Seattle spending the weekend with friends).

Saturday is a special day, it's the day we get ready for Sunday...we clean the house and we shop at the store....

So in preparation for scouring and cleaning, Ashley attached several bottles of Febreeze to the pockets of her jeans so she would look the part. I'm not entirely certain just how much cleaning she's got done, but she certainly looks cute standing in the master bathroom, ready to work.

I'm writing and cleaning. I spend half an hour working on my book, half an hour cleaning. It's working so far.

Thursday I spent five hours at the Thurston County Sheriff's office poring over boxes and notebooks and photos of the crime I'm writing about. I found out more than I ever wanted to know about evil and barbarity in a monster's heart. I've lived in compartive innocence regarding the depravity of the criminal mind.

So, while I clean today and prepare my home for the Sabbath, I will try to cleanse myself of the darkness as well in order to enjoy the sweet uplift of spirit that the sabbath brings me.

  1. I'm doing that today too. :) I'm doing the 45/15 thing. Think about cleaning for 45 minutes, blog for 15. HA just kidding.

Mine is working for me, too. Gotta love the time limit approach.

  2. I sympathize with you Pam. I've had more than my fill of what people can do to friends, spouses, children and sometime just people they don't know.

Sometimes the only way you get through it is just think that there's got to be someone good out there for every bad one, and there's times that not even that seems to be enough.

  3. Was not yesterday -- Friday -- going to be a difficult day for you? Or am I in a time warp?

  4. TMM, I do love the time limit thing. It works for me and it usually works for the children as well.

Front-I know what you mean. There are things out there that I'd really rather not know about.

WW, yes, it was supposed to be Friday, but they rescheduled to Thursday instead. It was a long five hours of reading and going over files and photos. I felt bruised inside after I'd finished. I do not know how police officers and true crime writers can immerse themselves in this horror constantly and be able to shake if off at the end of the day.

She's Something...

Most of you know that I've got four children. My eldest is seventeen. Oh heavens...how did that happen? Wasn't I just seventeen the other day? I'm sure I was.... Well, she's amazing. I know the majority of mothers have very high compliments to pay their children--and rightly so. However, my baby girl is astounding by anyone's standards. She is going to high school and college at the same time. In high school she's taking mostly AP (Advanced Placement) classes, which also count for college credits. She gets up at five a.m. every morning, goes to Seminary, then goes to school, she works four hours daily as an office manager at Winderemere Real Estate. She speaks Spanish, plays piano, guitar and flute. She goes to the gym daily and it shows. This was her yesterday. This is a picture I just took of her, after getting her braces put on. Now, having said that she is gifted and talented, I should ammend this post to tell you the following. She just got home

Wheeeeeeee!

Today I was awakened to the not-so-delightful sounds of enormous dump trucks, (you know the ones that are a dump truck and they haul a trailer behind?) dumping truck load after truck load of dirt behind my house. Then the most incredibly noisey and squeaky (do they not grease the tracks on those things??) grader began shoving the dirt and rocks around. I had to fight the urge to throw a can of WD40 over the fence to the driver. It wasn't even eight in the morning. It wasn't even 7:30 yet. So I reluctantly arose from my bed and cleaned up the kitchen. After it was spotless, I went back upstairs to my freeze-zone (the only room in the house with AC) to do some online banking and make calls to check on medical bills, etc. As I was finishing up, in walks my husband! At first I had a moment of Oh-no-he's-lost-his-job terror. Then it passed after he smiled. Seems they ran out of work for the day. Odd, but then that's Boeing. So hubby was roped into going school cloth

People are rude

I'm whining today. I think I have the right. My friend's mom sells Cookie Lee Jewelry and I agreed to host a party for her at my home tonight. I sent out about twenty invitations via the mail and I only had two people call me to say they couldn't come. Two. Two kind people called to let me know they would not be able to make it. The rest ignored the invitation. I cleaned my house, I made two apple crisps. This afternoon I called everyone I sent invitations to. I know people are busy. I get that. it's not that I'm not busy either. I'm just...disappointed in people. I feel let down. Silly of me, huh? But I do. Good thing I have apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for my family tonight. On a positive note, I went to the pool this morning and had a nice workout. Felt better for having done that and plan on going tomorrow as well. Now I'm getting the 'what's for dinner mooooom???' queries. I think tonight it will be fast food. I&#
