Piercings and Pictures!

Image hosting by Photobucket

Ally has been begging for quite some time to get her ears pierced and today, for some reason or other perhaps because the pills I've been taking for my back pain have ruined my better judgement I consented. I ouched my way to the mall for the piercing. She did well, no crying, just a surprised "OH!" when it happened and that was it. When the lady saw my flash go off on my camera she turned around and berated me for taking a picture. Apparently there is a NO PICTURE law in effect there. This was news to me, as I never saw a sign. So I politely put my camera away and took out my cell phone. Oops! It snapped a picture without a flash! How did that happen? At least I wasn't using a 'camera'. Ha!

Then we got her eyebrows waxed. I know, I know, she's only nine, but she's soon to be ten and that unibrow was beginning to get to me as well. Plus, it was ammo for her older brother and he is the Supreme Teaser. He doesn't need any more ammo.

Hubby worked today (Ka-ching!) and it's all OT baby. We like that. He was happy as well. He could have worked tomorrow as well, but we would rather not work on the Sabbath. I got a phone call asking me to come to choir tomorrow at five. I said I would. I just hope my back allows me to do so. Dang skeleton of mine!

  2. Awwww, thanks. She's done very well with cleaning her ears and spinning the posts so they don't get stuck. I'm proud of her. The only problem I have now is that my youngest (seven years old) wants her's done and she's been pitching a fit about it. This required some stern parenting on my part. Oh well. Such is life.

She's Something...

Most of you know that I've got four children. My eldest is seventeen. Oh heavens...how did that happen? Wasn't I just seventeen the other day? I'm sure I was.... Well, she's amazing. I know the majority of mothers have very high compliments to pay their children--and rightly so. However, my baby girl is astounding by anyone's standards. She is going to high school and college at the same time. In high school she's taking mostly AP (Advanced Placement) classes, which also count for college credits. She gets up at five a.m. every morning, goes to Seminary, then goes to school, she works four hours daily as an office manager at Winderemere Real Estate. She speaks Spanish, plays piano, guitar and flute. She goes to the gym daily and it shows. This was her yesterday. This is a picture I just took of her, after getting her braces put on. Now, having said that she is gifted and talented, I should ammend this post to tell you the following. She just got home

Wheeeeeeee!

Today I was awakened to the not-so-delightful sounds of enormous dump trucks, (you know the ones that are a dump truck and they haul a trailer behind?) dumping truck load after truck load of dirt behind my house. Then the most incredibly noisey and squeaky (do they not grease the tracks on those things??) grader began shoving the dirt and rocks around. I had to fight the urge to throw a can of WD40 over the fence to the driver. It wasn't even eight in the morning. It wasn't even 7:30 yet. So I reluctantly arose from my bed and cleaned up the kitchen. After it was spotless, I went back upstairs to my freeze-zone (the only room in the house with AC) to do some online banking and make calls to check on medical bills, etc. As I was finishing up, in walks my husband! At first I had a moment of Oh-no-he's-lost-his-job terror. Then it passed after he smiled. Seems they ran out of work for the day. Odd, but then that's Boeing. So hubby was roped into going school cloth

People are rude

I'm whining today. I think I have the right. My friend's mom sells Cookie Lee Jewelry and I agreed to host a party for her at my home tonight. I sent out about twenty invitations via the mail and I only had two people call me to say they couldn't come. Two. Two kind people called to let me know they would not be able to make it. The rest ignored the invitation. I cleaned my house, I made two apple crisps. This afternoon I called everyone I sent invitations to. I know people are busy. I get that. it's not that I'm not busy either. I'm just...disappointed in people. I feel let down. Silly of me, huh? But I do. Good thing I have apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for my family tonight. On a positive note, I went to the pool this morning and had a nice workout. Felt better for having done that and plan on going tomorrow as well. Now I'm getting the 'what's for dinner mooooom???' queries. I think tonight it will be fast food. I&#
