The Agony and the Exctasy

A major miracle happened last night. Ashley, my youngest, actually slept the entire night in her own bed. I can't recall the last time this happened. Her nocturnal rituals include leaving her bed and stumbling to mine in the middle of the night. She doesn't sleep in our bed, she brings a blanket and curls up on the floor next to my side of the bed. No matter what we do, she continues this nightly event. I think what did her in last night was the fact that her soccer coach ran her little hinney off, so she was worn out. Plus, hubby gave her some Dimeatapp cold medicine before bedtime. She's got an icky headcold. Both events conspired to keep her snuggled down in her little bed.

Another, smaller miracle, is that I went back to the gym this morning despite the fact that my back was tweaked out when I woke up. Generally after sleeping through the night, my back feels better. Somehow it managed to feel worse this morning. Despite that, I went and exercised. After a bit the pain lessened and then finally went away altogether. I'm not sure if that was the workout or the muscle relaxant and three ibuprofen I took before I left. Either way, that's two days in a row for me. Go me!

Now to figure out a healthy dinner for everyone..... Any suggestions?

  2. Late, but still a reply to your questions about duct tape and time travel.

    A) No, you can't go back and stop yourself from eating that candy bar, but I'm pretty sure Einsteinian paradox theory would allow you to send the candy bar's offspring back in time to kill the original candy bar and thus destroy both candy bars.

    B) You'll still need all that duct tape to remove the fallout lint from your dark clothing.

She's Something...

Most of you know that I've got four children. My eldest is seventeen. Oh heavens...how did that happen? Wasn't I just seventeen the other day? I'm sure I was.... Well, she's amazing. I know the majority of mothers have very high compliments to pay their children--and rightly so. However, my baby girl is astounding by anyone's standards. She is going to high school and college at the same time. In high school she's taking mostly AP (Advanced Placement) classes, which also count for college credits. She gets up at five a.m. every morning, goes to Seminary, then goes to school, she works four hours daily as an office manager at Winderemere Real Estate. She speaks Spanish, plays piano, guitar and flute. She goes to the gym daily and it shows. This was her yesterday. This is a picture I just took of her, after getting her braces put on. Now, having said that she is gifted and talented, I should ammend this post to tell you the following. She just got home

Wheeeeeeee!

Today I was awakened to the not-so-delightful sounds of enormous dump trucks, (you know the ones that are a dump truck and they haul a trailer behind?) dumping truck load after truck load of dirt behind my house. Then the most incredibly noisey and squeaky (do they not grease the tracks on those things??) grader began shoving the dirt and rocks around. I had to fight the urge to throw a can of WD40 over the fence to the driver. It wasn't even eight in the morning. It wasn't even 7:30 yet. So I reluctantly arose from my bed and cleaned up the kitchen. After it was spotless, I went back upstairs to my freeze-zone (the only room in the house with AC) to do some online banking and make calls to check on medical bills, etc. As I was finishing up, in walks my husband! At first I had a moment of Oh-no-he's-lost-his-job terror. Then it passed after he smiled. Seems they ran out of work for the day. Odd, but then that's Boeing. So hubby was roped into going school cloth

People are rude

I'm whining today. I think I have the right. My friend's mom sells Cookie Lee Jewelry and I agreed to host a party for her at my home tonight. I sent out about twenty invitations via the mail and I only had two people call me to say they couldn't come. Two. Two kind people called to let me know they would not be able to make it. The rest ignored the invitation. I cleaned my house, I made two apple crisps. This afternoon I called everyone I sent invitations to. I know people are busy. I get that. it's not that I'm not busy either. I'm just...disappointed in people. I feel let down. Silly of me, huh? But I do. Good thing I have apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for my family tonight. On a positive note, I went to the pool this morning and had a nice workout. Felt better for having done that and plan on going tomorrow as well. Now I'm getting the 'what's for dinner mooooom???' queries. I think tonight it will be fast food. I&#
