Friday Freeze

Apparently my region received an arctic blast last night and today. I haven't noticed too much, being as I've stayed inside all day. Jenny called me to tell me that there were trees down in Tacoma, wires down and all the traffic lights were out. I'm not sorry to have missed that particular fun.

I slept in this morning because my children have Mid Winter Break. This consists of no school on Friday or Monday. I was awakened by my cell phone at 7:30 a.m. It was my sister, telling me I slept too much. She may have a point, but I'm not telling her that. I have slept a lot lately, but mostly because I've been sick with a sinus infection and bronchitis for the past two weeks. Yay me! I'm beginning to feel better though, so yay me again! While she was talking to me, my father beeped in. Apparently they were together, walking at Northgate Mall and were tag teaming me on the phone for some reason.

Did I mention that I didn't answer my phone Wednesday morning and my father filled it up with 25 voice messages and 35 or more pix messages? Most of the phone messages were grunts. A few went like this:

(Said in a moany, groany kind of voice) "Paaaam, I've fallen....help.....help" click

Next one. "Paaaaam.....ambulance coming....me fall down...." Click.

Next one. "Going to hospital now......in pain....ow...you no answer phone...you no help me..." Click.

Next one. "Too late....I die.....taking me to funeral home now...you still no answer phone..." Click.

For the record, my father is not, oriental. I'm not sure why he talks that way when he's pretending to have a near death experience, then a death experience, then speaking to me from the Great Beyond. He fills my cell phone up every time he calls and I don't answer.

After he filled up my voice mail, he proceeded to walk around his house, snapping pictures with his cell phone camera and sending them to me. He took pictures of every picture or painting on his walls, out the window to the drive way, the pond and stream in his front yard, his little glass dog figurine that his mother gave him, the kitchen, the.... Well, you get the picture. Or rather, I got all the pictures. It took me forever to clear everything from my phone.

I need to get my Dad a hobby.

She's Something...

Most of you know that I've got four children. My eldest is seventeen. Oh heavens...how did that happen? Wasn't I just seventeen the other day? I'm sure I was.... Well, she's amazing. I know the majority of mothers have very high compliments to pay their children--and rightly so. However, my baby girl is astounding by anyone's standards. She is going to high school and college at the same time. In high school she's taking mostly AP (Advanced Placement) classes, which also count for college credits. She gets up at five a.m. every morning, goes to Seminary, then goes to school, she works four hours daily as an office manager at Winderemere Real Estate. She speaks Spanish, plays piano, guitar and flute. She goes to the gym daily and it shows. This was her yesterday. This is a picture I just took of her, after getting her braces put on. Now, having said that she is gifted and talented, I should ammend this post to tell you the following. She just got home

Wheeeeeeee!

Today I was awakened to the not-so-delightful sounds of enormous dump trucks, (you know the ones that are a dump truck and they haul a trailer behind?) dumping truck load after truck load of dirt behind my house. Then the most incredibly noisey and squeaky (do they not grease the tracks on those things??) grader began shoving the dirt and rocks around. I had to fight the urge to throw a can of WD40 over the fence to the driver. It wasn't even eight in the morning. It wasn't even 7:30 yet. So I reluctantly arose from my bed and cleaned up the kitchen. After it was spotless, I went back upstairs to my freeze-zone (the only room in the house with AC) to do some online banking and make calls to check on medical bills, etc. As I was finishing up, in walks my husband! At first I had a moment of Oh-no-he's-lost-his-job terror. Then it passed after he smiled. Seems they ran out of work for the day. Odd, but then that's Boeing. So hubby was roped into going school cloth

People are rude

I'm whining today. I think I have the right. My friend's mom sells Cookie Lee Jewelry and I agreed to host a party for her at my home tonight. I sent out about twenty invitations via the mail and I only had two people call me to say they couldn't come. Two. Two kind people called to let me know they would not be able to make it. The rest ignored the invitation. I cleaned my house, I made two apple crisps. This afternoon I called everyone I sent invitations to. I know people are busy. I get that. it's not that I'm not busy either. I'm just...disappointed in people. I feel let down. Silly of me, huh? But I do. Good thing I have apple crisp and vanilla ice cream for my family tonight. On a positive note, I went to the pool this morning and had a nice workout. Felt better for having done that and plan on going tomorrow as well. Now I'm getting the 'what's for dinner mooooom???' queries. I think tonight it will be fast food. I&#
